I picked up photography as a hobby in 2005, and I found myself in awe of how a single moment in time could say so much about the world and about people.
I "went pro" in 2009, and since then I've worked with amazing families, made new, wonderful friends, and apprenticed under some of the most talented wedding photographers in the Midwest.
[Simplicity & Service]
My "slogan", if you will -- simplicity and service -- encompasses my philosophy as a photographer, a business owner, and in life.
I strive for images that are alive, and that capture moments that tell stories.
More importantly, my business model also reflects this philosophy. I've worked to create an experience for my clients that epitomizes what "custom" photography is all about - you. As soon as we sit down for our first consulation, I'll inevitably ask, "What's your vision?"
In short, yes - I can do photojournalism. And yes - I can do clean, posed, formal portraiture. I love both, but I also love making my client's vision a reality.
In addition to that, I work to maintain the idea of simplicity by going paperless wherever possible, from pricing sheet to last receipt. Handwritten thank you notes, though? That's non-negotiable. ;)
Your experience with Melissa Glidden Photography is all about what I can do for you and how you work best. I meet clients for coffee, and I meet them via Skype. I meet them in emails and through texts.
Finally, the simplicity and service model stems from my personality: my life's mantra is, "Collect moments - not things." A visit to my home is all about laughter, good conversation, good movies, good music, good books, and plenty of sugar and refined carbohydrates. (And a lint roller ... Golden Retriever ...) I don't do clutter, and I don't do "stuff." I only want it if it's beautiful or useful. That's why I've designed my business to make it easy for clients to access a quality service without having to overwhelm themselves with ten different package ideas or complicated referal programs with a ton of fine print. (Though I do have some pretty great referral programs!)
